Columbia River Subdivision
The title to this page could well be called the "Trinidad Page". The BNSF Columbia River Sub, after crossing the Columbia River just before the Rock Island Dam, continues easily along the east bank of the Columbia River. Then the climb begins. Climbing onto what is known as the Columbia Plateau or Basin, it's a hard climb that includes the Trinidad horseshoe curve that as you can see by the photos I visit a lot! The siding in this area is also referred to as Trinidad and includes two train detectors, one at milepost's. 1622.2 and 1624.

The above picture and left are taken at what I like to refer too as "the cut". It is crossed by a small wooden road bridge. It's a great location to not only catch trains going up or down grade, but also a great place to hear and feel (hot Diesel exhaust!) the power of these mighty machines.
The pictures below are taken farther up the grade just westbound of the horseshoe curve.
